How does electrosmog affect health?

Thanks to digitalisation, our everyday lives are characterised by WLAN, Bluetooth, smartphones, tablets and lots of apps. But all this also generates electromagnetic waves and fields (EMF), which are known as “electrosmog”. What effects does this have on our health, and how can we protect ourselves from “electrosmog”?
Modern technologies and developments make our everyday lives easier. Useful apps and smart products allow us to organise our time sensibly, work while on the move, save energy at home and much more. However, ever more people are concerned about the effects of the constant radiation emitted by smartphones, WLAN routers, smart TVs, Bluetooth headphones and all other digital devices.

Effects of electrosmog on health

The discussion regarding the possible health effects of electrosmog is multi-faceted. Some opinion leaders still assume that there are no immediate health risks, although numerous studies now show that electrosmog has long-term effects on health.

Researchers and experts argue that electrosmog could play a role in the development of health problems such as sleep disorders, headaches, concentration problems and even more serious illnesses. Nevertheless, there is disagreement in the scientific community about the specific risks.

8 simple tips to protect yourself

It is, therefore, advisable to take measures to protect your own health. Our tips:

1. Maintain a safe distance
Try to keep a reasonable distance from electronic devices, especially while you are sleeping. So it’s best to banish smartphones, tablets and all other digital devices from the bedroom altogether.

2. Use flight mode
If you are not actively using your mobile phone, switch on flight mode. This deactivates most, but not all, wireless connections and reduces electrosmog exposure.

3. Cables over WLAN and Bluetooth
Wherever possible, use cables instead of WLAN or Bluetooth. For example, you can connect your laptop to the Internet via a LAN cable.

4. Mobile phone out of reach
Put your mobile phone out of reach of your bed at night. Even better: Switch it off! This way, you can ensure that you are not exposed to radiation from this device while you sleep.

5. Conscious device selection for greater protection
When buying a new smartphone, it is worth paying attention to the SAR value. Devices with a low SAR value emit less radiation and, therefore, offer greater protection.

6. Limit your time
Reduce the time you spend in front of screens. Taking breaks is not only good for your eyes, but also reduces the strain caused by screen radiation. How about a digital detox, for example?

7. Keeping an eye on current research
Research in this field is constantly evolving. Current scientific studies provide valuable information. Current scientific studies provide valuable information.

8. Take individual sensitivities into account
Some people are more sensitive to electrosmog than others. Observe your body and adjust the protective measures accordingly.

It may not always be possible to protect yourself completely from electrosmog, but with these simple steps, you can reduce your exposure to electrosmog and take a first step towards adopting a more conscious approach to electrosmog. Your health will thank you for it.
